In this meditation, we will explore the basics of mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness is a state of being that is present and open. It is when we observe ourselves and life from a place of stillness, without judgment, allowing ourselves to be present and just “be” with any emotion, situation, or sensation that arises within us.
Try to find a quiet space where you will not be disturbed, with few to no distractions. If you do not have access to that though, that is okay – mindfulness can still be practiced anywhere! Your eyes can remain open or closed, and you may want to turn off any nearby electronics (or turn your phone onto silent or do not disturb mode) so you won’t get distracted by notifications.
This meditation is ideal for people experiencing meditation for the first time, as well as people who may already be experienced in meditation but would like to dip back into the basics for a refresher.
